Which Autotrader is this?

Three unrelated companies share the Autotrader name. The Australian one launched in 2018 under Cox Automotive (US), was sold with eBay’s classifieds to Adevinta, and landed in 2022 with what is now Gumtree Australia Markets (ASX: GUM) — the same group that owns Gumtree and CarsGuide. Its footer reads "part of CarsGuide", and the two share infrastructure, editorial and the Fast Car Offer service.

If you’ve read that "Autotrader charges US$49 to list" or about the UK’s seller protections — that’s the other Autotraders. None of it applies here.

What sellers can actually do here

One thing: Fast Car Offer. The sell page states listing your car is no longer available and points private sellers to Gumtree. Fast Car Offer itself is free — rego, state and kilometres in; a verified buyer reviews and offers; inspection is booked; payment can arrive within about 24 hours, anywhere in Australia.
