MotorLoop is a newer Australian car marketplace built around a handful of things the big sites don’t offer — free listings, an AI that writes the ad, a marketplace an AI assistant can talk to directly, private link-only sales, and detail pages that actually show a car off. This page puts our features next to the mainstream options so you can see the differences at a glance.
We’ve kept our own column honest and marked the others from what each platform publishes about itself. We also score ourselves below, and the score is not flattering — two of the five things we measure are unfinished, and we would rather publish the real number than a decorative one. AI writes your ad
Point it at a photo or type a few notes and MotorLoop drafts the description and the specs. Every field it fills is marked, so you accept or reject them one at a time before anything goes live.
An AI assistant can shop here
MotorLoop runs its own MCP server, listed on the official Model Context Protocol registry, so an assistant that supports MCP can search the marketplace and read a listing directly — no scraper, no copy-paste. Sellers can add an access token and manage their own cars the same way.
Priced in any currency
A listing carries its own currency rather than a hardcoded dollar sign, the location picker searches the whole world, and the site reads in nine languages — the groundwork for cars from anywhere, though today’s inventory is Australian.
Unlisted, link-only sales
Sell privately: mark a car “unlisted” and it stays out of search and browse, visible only to people you send the link to. Perfect for a quiet sale to a mate or a select buyer.
Your own private storefront
Dealers and clubs can run a private storefront — a branded space where only signed-in members can browse the inventory, kept out of search engines by default.
Themed showcase pages
Every car gets a proper detail page you can dress in a cinematic or magazine-style “showcase” layout — presented like a showroom, not parked in a yard — because cars are worth looking at, even when they’re not really for sale.
Virtual number plates
Every listing can carry a virtual number plate and its own short link (motorloop.com.au/YOURPLATE) — a MotorLoop original we haven’t seen on other Australian car sites.

This is our own score, not a review by anyone else, and not a customer rating — we scored MotorLoop against the five things we set out to be best at. We publish the two we are losing on as plainly as the three we are winning on.
The average of the five scores below. It is not a 4.8 because two of the five are genuinely unfinished.

- Nothing to pay, at any point. No ad packages, no paid tiers, no lock-in, no fee to publish a listing or to keep it live until the car sells. Nothing can be cheaper than free, so there is nothing here to mark down — and to be straight with you, a basic Gumtree or Facebook listing is free as well. What differs is everything you get alongside it.

Free removes the reason to go anywhere else first
Every other Australian option eventually asks a private seller for money, or takes a cut, or buries the good placement behind a package. Listing here costs nothing, so trying us is not a decision anyone has to justify. That is how a new marketplace gets its first inventory, and inventory is what buyers come for.
The worst part of selling a car is now a 30-second job
Nobody enjoys writing the ad, and a thin, badly-written listing is why good cars sit unsold. Our AI drafts the description and the specs from a photo or a few notes, then hands you every field to accept or reject. Better listings are better for buyers too, which is the kind of advantage that compounds instead of needing to be re-bought every month.
We are the first Australian car marketplace an AI assistant can just talk to
MotorLoop publishes its own MCP server on the official Model Context Protocol registry — first-party, one endpoint per storefront, read access open to any assistant with no credential. Checked on 10 August 2026, we could not find another Australian car marketplace publishing one; where the big sites turn up in the AI ecosystem it is through third-party scrapers of their pages, not an endpoint they run themselves. Buyers are starting to shop by asking an assistant, and we are already answerable when they do.
Our differences are structural, not features to be copied
Unlisted link-only sales, private members-only storefronts and showcase layouts are not widgets bolted onto a listing page — they change what a listing IS and who can see it. That is the kind of difference a large incumbent cannot ship in a quarter, because it reaches all the way down into how their inventory is indexed.
Built to leave Australia from day one
Per-listing currency, worldwide place search and nine languages are already in the product, well before we need them. Marketplaces that assume one country in their data model spend years unpicking it; we simply did not make that assumption.
We publish the shortfalls
Our scorecard above gives us 1.5 out of 5 on global reach and 3.5 on AI, and says why. Everything on this page is a claim you can check on the sites named in it. A marketplace asking you to trust it with the second-biggest thing you own should be the one telling you what it cannot do yet.
