Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso: the hybrid V6 concept that sets Alfa's future design

Alfa Romeo's Cuorerosso concept, revealed at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, previews the brand's next design language and a 2.9-litre V6 full-hybrid performance future.

Alfa Romeo used the 2026 Paris Motor Show to unveil the Cuorerosso, a striking 2+2 concept that the Italian brand calls a design manifesto. The name joins the Italian words for heart (cuore) and red (rosso), and Alfa says the car is built on three pillars: red, Italy and sportiness.

Alfa is clear that the Cuorerosso is not a preview of a specific production model, and the concept itself will not be built. Instead, it sets the design language and engineering direction for the next generation of Alfa Romeos — the brand says this language will shape its new models from 2028.

Design: Bellezza Necessaria

The Cuorerosso was created by Alfa Romeo's Centro Stile in Turin, which approached the car as a block of material to be sculpted rather than drawn. Alfa calls the philosophy behind it Bellezza Necessaria — necessary beauty — which strips out anything superfluous and gives every element a job to do.

Familiar Alfa cues are reworked rather than retired. The sculpted Scudetto grille sits at the centre of a reinterpreted Trilobo face, built from backlit triangles that pulse like a heartbeat, and the same rhythm animates the driver's welcome light. A 3×3 light signature frames the front, with active air intakes hidden inside the headlamps.

Aerodynamics drive the shape. See-through mirrors let air flow through them, the surfaces run uninterrupted, and at the back a Coda Tronca truncated tail and a low integrated diffuser help the concept to a 0.28 drag coefficient.

The body is finished in Liquid Ink Red, with flush glazing, no conventional door handles and counter-opening doors. The wheels are perforated titanium, each made from a single piece of metal.

Inside

The cabin has four individual seats, a centre console that runs the length of the interior, and a driver-focused cockpit. Alfa's Magma console keeps screens and controls hidden until they are needed, while the Cannocchiale instrument binnacle physically reshapes itself between two driving modes. The Con-tatto steering wheel is a modern take on Alfa's classic three-spoke design, paired with steer-by-wire. Seats are trimmed in Poltrona Frau nubuck.

Hybrid V6 performance

Underneath, the Cuorerosso points to a multi-energy strategy. Alfa says future models will be offered with full-electric, plug-in hybrid, mild hybrid and full hybrid powertrains, on flexible architectures covering models up to 4.7 metres long, with room for high-performance Quadrifoglio versions.

For the top of that range, Alfa pictures a 2.9-litre V6 full hybrid with Q4 all-wheel drive, a torque-converter automatic and a carbon-fibre driveshaft. On its own website, Alfa quotes the concept's twin-turbo V6 at around 565 hp, working with lithium-ion batteries delivering around 350 kW; no combined system output has been given. The concept also features air suspension and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes with Alfa Romeo-specific callipers.

Technology, function and quality are always at the service of emotions and driving pleasure.

What it means for Australian buyers

Alfa Romeo has not announced a production model based on the Cuorerosso, a launch date or any plans for Australia. What the concept does confirm is that the brand's next cars are set to keep combustion power in the mix — including a hybridised V6 — alongside full electrics, while carrying a bolder, more sculpted look.

FAQs

Will the Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso go into production?
