Hedley Studios cars for sale

About these listings

Every Hedley Studios listed on MotorLoop.

United Kingdom

Overview

Hedley Studios, until recently The Little Car Company, builds officially licensed junior cars — scaled, electric, hand-built recreations made in partnership with the marques whose cars they represent. They are not toys and not full-size cars, and it is worth being clear which category a listing belongs to before you assess a price.

The range runs to several models sized between roughly 66 and 85 per cent of the original, and most can be driven by an adult. The best known is the Bugatti Baby II.

History

The company rebranded from The Little Car Company to Hedley Studios, dropping the word little and taking the surname of its founder and chief executive, Ben Hedley.

The Bugatti Baby II is a 75 per cent scale, fully electric recreation of the Bugatti Type 35, developed from a full 3D scan of a 1924 French Grand Prix car and built as an official Bugatti product. Production was limited to 500 units at around 55,000 pounds each. The Aston Martin DB5 Junior followed, with over 1,000 planned, and the line has grown to four models developed with the approval and involvement of each original marque.

Buying one in Australia

Registration is the question to settle first. These are low-speed vehicles built for private land, and they are not designed or certified as road vehicles for Australian conditions, so assume off-road use unless a seller can show otherwise.

Provenance is straightforward by the standards of this page: the cars are numbered, officially licensed and documented, so ask for the build number and the original purchase documentation.
