Overview
Mosler built lightweight American sports cars that were fast enough to get themselves banned from the racing series they entered. Warren Mosler’s engineering argument was always the same one Colin Chapman made: mass is the enemy, and everything else follows from beating it.
History
Warren Mosler founded Consulier Industries in 1985 and built the Consulier GTP — a mid-engined car weighing about 2,200 lb with a 190-horsepower turbocharged Chrysler engine. The automotive division spun off as Mosler Automotive in 1993 with the 300-horsepower Intruder, which won so consistently that organisers excluded it.
A Lingenfelter-modified Intruder won Car and Driver’s One Lap of America in 1996, and the renamed Raptor took the 1997 and 1999 events. The carbon-fibre MT900 arrived in 2001 with a mid-mounted GM V8. Operations ceased on 14 June 2013 when Rossion Automotive acquired the assets.
