Overview

Zeekr is Geely’s premium electric brand, positioned against Tesla and the Chinese premium start-ups. Its cars use the group’s SEA platform — the same architecture underneath several Volvo and Polestar models — and lead on charging speed and interior technology.

History

Established by Geely in March 2021. The range covers the 001 shooting brake, the 007 sedan, the X compact SUV, the 009 people mover and the 7X, with plug-in hybrid models added later. Partnerships include Waymo for autonomous robotaxis and CATL for batteries.

Zeekr raised roughly $441 million in a New York IPO in May 2024, the largest by a Chinese company since 2021, and produced 222,123 vehicles that year. It acquired Lynk & Co in February 2025, and Geely took the company fully private in December 2025.

In Australia

Zeekr launched in Australia in 2024, following its European entry through Sweden and the Netherlands. The used market here is therefore very young — most cars still carry substantial factory warranty, and the dealer and service network is still being built out, which is worth checking against your postcode before buying.
