Sell new and used stock
A practical sales workflow, with separate checks for new and used cars.
Every advertised vehicle
- ☐ Confirm current dealer licensing, authority to sell and the jurisdiction's required advertisements, forms and disclosures.
- ☐ Verify VIN, grade, model/build year, kilometres and ownership status; distinguish new, demonstrator and used stock.
- ☐ Quote the total payable price clearly and explain any location-dependent on-road costs. Do not present optional products as compulsory.
- ☐ Prepare an accurate MotorLoop listing with actual photographs, specifications, condition and supported warranty claims.
New and demonstrator stock
- ☐ Confirm allocation or stock availability, delivery estimate, specification and any price-change clause before taking an order.
- ☐ Disclose demonstrator use, first registration and warranty start date; record odometer and any repaired damage.
- ☐ Complete pre-delivery checks, outstanding recall work and all contracted accessories before handover.
Used stock
- ☐ Check provenance, security interests, service records, odometer consistency and relevant written-off or repair history.
- ☐ Obtain the inspections and statutory disclosures required for that vehicle and jurisdiction; record any exemptions.
- ☐ Explain applicable dealer statutory warranties and their limits without suggesting they replace consumer guarantees. ACCC: new and second-hand cars
Contract, delivery and support
- ☐ Give the customer written price, deposit, finance, trade-in and delivery terms; explain applicable cooling-off rights.
- ☐ Complete registration/duty processes through the correct dealer channel and retain transaction records.
- ☐ Demonstrate the powertrain, charging/fuelling, safety systems and account setup; provide both keys and documents.
- ☐ Record unresolved items and a contact for remedies. Assess complaints under the Australian Consumer Law. ACCC: new and second-hand cars
Dealer licensing, forms, statutory warranties and cooling-off rules vary. Use the relevant jurisdiction's dealer process; private-seller procedures are not a complete dealer compliance checklist.
