Australia's biggest automotive festival opens the new year when Street Machine Summernats 39 takes over Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC) from Thursday 7 – Sunday 10 January 2027.

The street machine mecca

Summernats is aimed squarely at Australia's modified-car and street-machine community:

  • Burnout competitions, including the Pro Burnout Series Grand Final bringing together qualifiers from across the 2026 season
  • Elite show cars
  • Drifting
  • Automotive trade displays and entertainment

Some vehicles displayed at Summernats represent years of engineering, fabrication and customisation — seeing that many unusual builds in one place is the core of the appeal.

Why Canberra works

EPIC gives the festival room to breathe, and the location makes Summernats accessible to enthusiasts travelling from both NSW and interstate. If you want to understand Australian car culture at full volume, this is where it gathers each January.
